Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve




Join us for a relaxing and introspective morning in nature at the beautiful Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve. We will begin with a Forest Bathing walk, facilitated by Melody Rose, and finish with an outdoor meditation session facilitated by Marta Reczek.

Melody owns FirReal Nature Connections and is in training to become a certified Nature Connected Life Coach. Forest Bathing walks will have you noticing the many health benefits of trees, nature and the environment. You will see that there is a REAL connection between the trees, the animals, and of course, yourself, and all that there is.

Melody will hold a space for you where you can freely and safely relax and explore your connection with nature. She will invite you to participate in exercises to aid in you being in the moment and absorbing the regenerative qualities of nature. We will walk, but we will also sit, watch, listen, taste, smell, touch, and feel all that nature has to offer. You will see you have lots to offer nature, and yourself as well.

Marta is a Registered Yoga and Meditation Teacher, with training from Anuttara Ashram in Nass Camp, BC, and a Kids Yoga teacher as well through Yoga in My School. She is also an Environmental Educator and Education Coordinator here at the Reserve. Marta has been practicing meditation and yoga for over a decade and became a teacher last year.

Marta is passionate about sharing the beautiful practice of meditation as a way to delve inwards and make time and space for yourself amidst the hectic world we live in. Meditation is not meant to “stop thoughts”; it is meant to strengthen your ability to observe your thoughts. Through sustained observation we may gain more understanding and the ability to change our thoughts. Practicing meditation outdoors is a wonderful way to inspire more tranquility and tap into the energy of nature and wildlife. Open to all levels, including beginners.

In case of inclement weather, please dress appropriately. If needed, the meditation session can take place indoors. Chairs and padded seats will be provided.
