Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve

Migratory birds are not back yet, but you can come and experience what the Great Blue Heron Reserve has to offer in the winter. This two hour workshop focuses on our winter residents with an emphasis on ducks and related species.
No previous experience is required, so we welcome both novice and experienced bird watchers and nature lovers. This is a great opportunity for those wishing to introduce anyone young or old to the basics of bird watching.
After a bit of theory in the lab, we will walk around the trails of the reserve to apply what we just learned. Since ducks don’t move too much, you will have a chance to observe and learn about bird behavior and improve on your identification skills.
Remember to wear warm clothing and bring binoculars and a bird ID guide if you have one (not mandatory as we will have some equipment available).
